19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player won his first title for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging season, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time coach his previous coach.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after March of that year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and regular emotional displays on court had prompted some to question if his capacity to play at the top level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He rescued four early opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
